GOD’S MESSENGERS
We must be careful that we never neglect a message from God because we despise or do not care for the messenger. A man would not refuse a check for $1,000 because it was not enclosed in a nice envelope, now would he? It reminds me of an old man who lived up in Hill County, Texas, when we did, 30 years ago. You would not think he had a dollar to his name. One of our deacons, a carpenter, told me that he did some work for the old man. When time came to pay in the evening when the work was done, this old man started scratching around trying to find a piece of paper. He finally found an old grocery sack and tore off a piece of that brown paper bag. Then he wrote the check out in long hand to my deacon friend.
