There is the story of an angel who asked the Risen Jesus on His arrival in heaven, “Lord, what have You left behind to carry out the work?” “A little band of women and men who love Me,” Jesus answered. “But Lord, what if they fail when the trial comes? Will all You have done be defeated?” “Yes,” Jesus replied, “if they fail, all I have done will be defeated.” The angel persisted: “Is there nothing more?” “No,” said Jesus. “What then, Lord?” asked the worried angel. “THEY WILL NOT FAIL,” was Jesus’ answer. In today’s Reading from Ephesians, St. Paul writes concerning “God’s Secret Plan” which, he says, “is no less than this: In Christ Jesus the Gentiles are now co-heirs with the Jews, members of the same body and sharers of the promise through the preaching of the Gospel” (Eph.3:3,6). In other words, in Jesus Christ, God has revealed His Plan for the solidarity and oneness of all mankind-that blessed order of peace…
