A HELPFUL RESOURCE
Baker Book House has just printed a most helpful book entitled Worship Services for Special Occasions, by Edd Breeden, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Cruz, California. It has service helps for weddings, funerals, baptisms, dedications, ordinations, public reception of new members, friendship day, dedication of teachers, choir recognition and commissioning of missionaries. Here’s a prayer from the section that could be used for the baptism or dedication of an infant: Merciful Father, we give you praise for the love you have toward our children. As we present this child/these children to you,
Receive her/him/them into your hands.
Fill her/him/them with your Holy Spirit.
Keep her/him/them as your own forever./Take her/him/them under your fatherly care.
Instruct her/him/them, that they might grow in wisdom and in stature and in favor both with you and with all men.
