DON’T GET SKUNKED
Last summer my family went camping on Current River in Missouri. We picked a likely camp ground and set-up. My wife had insisted on bringing her dog, Kristi, on the trip. I finally relented, but refused to allow it in the tent, condemning it to sleep chained outside in the warm, summer night. That night, just as we were getting to sleep, the dog went crazy! She barked and snapped at her chain as she tried to go after something she sensed in the dark. After a five minute discussion, I “volunteered” to go out and find out what was upsetting her. I didn’t have to look long, the unmistakable odor of skunk came on the breeze. The next evening at dusk we were driving slowly back to our campsite from the shower room.
