THE CROSS AND LIFE
A new missionary was sent to an area of Africa which had not been introduced to the gospel of God’s love. The missionary discovered just how hard it is to explain the power of God to those who have no concept of a Creator. Life is filled with spirits and “mana” (an impersonal supernatural force that inhabits inanimate objects), but none of them is responsible for creation. Certainly none of them could bring the dead back to life. What you would see would be a spirit that looked like the dead person. Try explaining the Resurrection to a group who sees life like that. Yet, the missionary did try, and was quite successful as he told the simple story of Jesus’ life and his final crucifixion.
