PASTOR’S WIVES
Most wives of ministers enjoy the role of pastor’s wife, a survey by the National Association of Evangelicals found, but there are some alarm bells in some of the findings. Four out of five see their role as God’s will for their lives, and although 85% describe their marriages as healthy and compatible, only half say they love being married to a clergyman. Four out of five have confidence in their husbands’ fidelity. Almost two-thirds say their children enjoy being ministers’ kids. One in five believes parishioners view pastors’ wives as unpaid assistant ministers, and one in five also feels that most church members don’t understand them. Two out of five find it difficult to find time for both family and ministry, and one in six says she is close to burnout. Many (44%) say they need a trusted friend; 41% would like a support group.
