FROZEN FEET
“Old Pat” was begged by the Nashville mission not to go out drinking with the money he had earned, but he refused to listen. Nor did he heed the advice to buy additional clothing to protect himself from the cold weather. He bought enough liquor to send himself on a three day drinking spree. He was found by some transients in an abandoned automobile who reported him as dead. He was rushed to the hospital and eventually lost both feet from frostbite. The staff of the mission never allow a freezing night to pass without searching for freezing bodies. From Crisis in the Streets, by Carl R. Resener, published by Broadman Press, Nashville, TN
