WILTED LIVES
An elderly woman had been teaching the same group of girls in a Sunday School class for several years. She had come to know each one quite well. Each had at some time made a profession of faith in Christ, except one. The one exception was a young lady, who was very pretty, extremely popular, and socially active at school. When encouraged towards spiritual commitment she would always indicate that she intended to commit her life later on, when she was much older, and anticipated less exciting things to do. The girls class sent their teacher a dozen roses on her birthday one year and the woman received a great satisfaction viewing them until they lost their color and wilted away. When it was time to throw them out, she carefully placed them in the box they had come in and mailed them to the non-committed pupil without explanation.
