VIA DOLOROSA
I walked the street of sorrows,
Leading to Golgotha’s hill-
The Via Dolorosa,
Echoing His footsteps still.
The day was gray with sadness,
The shades of grief were there,
The echo of His agony
Lay heavy on their air.
But then a sound broke through the gray,
A sun’s ray filtered through-
The laughter of a little child
Turned somber skies to blue.
The Via Dolorosa,
Street of sorrows, street of pain,
Became the Road to Heaven
Where my Master lives again.
From Walk The World Proudly, by Helen Lowrie Marshall, Doubleday & Company Inc., Garden City, NY 1969
