The following is taken from YOUR CHURCH and describes the “average pastor.” Take a look and see how you or yours fit in… The Study… In the winter of 1990, CTI, the parent organization for YOUR CHURCH magazine, commissioned Com-Sci Systems to conduct a survey of U.S. pastors. One thousand surveys were mailed to a scientifically chosen random selection of all U.S. pastors, and 309 were returned, giving a response of 20.9 percent. With a sample this size, results are considered accurate to within plus or minus 6 percentage points 95 percent of the time. Here’s What We Found… The average U.S. Pastor: – Lives east of the Mississippi (61%). – Is 45 years old (median age). – Is Male (95% of respondents). – Is most likely to be pastoring a Baptist Church (25%). – Is a solo pastor with no fellow clergy staff (62%). – Has 183 people in worship on Sunday morning (mean attendance). – Is most likely to…
