NEVER TOO YOUNG TO GIVE A
Newsweek article recently told about a 6-year-old boy from Oklahoma named Brian Parish. According to this article, young Brian did extra chores for 5 months to get money to buy toys for poor children. He earned $50 with his extra work and then picked out the toys that were to be bought for the children of a needy family. Brian’s example impressed the Newsweek editors. Six-year-olds do not naturally give and sacrifice for others. In fact, most people of any age do not naturally tend to do those things. However, Brian’s mother encouraged his project and his aunt helped him find a needy family. Therefore, Brian is growing up learning to give. That lesson is a very valuable gift to give a child! The greatest need our children have is to learn about the love of Jesus Christ. If they know that love, we won’t have to worry that they will be dragged down by temptation and despair…
