MODELING FOR WHOM?
One of America’s favorite commercials of 1990 is the Duracell battery commercial featuring a pink bunny rabbit that “keeps going and going and going…” There is one problem… the ad is an Eveready Energizer commercial, not a Duracell battery commercial. However, according to The Wall Street Journal, Duracell’s market share has continued to grow, because viewers (40 percent at last count) don’t realize the ad is for Eveready. This is not completely uncommon in the advertising game. In 1979 many viewers thought the popular commercials featuring actors James Garner and Mariette Hartley were for Kodak. They were actually for Polaroid. What a vivid picture of the importance of modeling Jesus Christ. So many times we tend to model religion, conservatism, or our particular slant on issues, yet we forget that Jesus Christ simply asks us to model Him. Let’s not let some other product get the credit for what Jesus has done in our lives.
