CHURCH FOR GOOD STUDENTS
One of the regular Monday morning assignments for our education secretary was to scan the previous day’s visitor cards to determine local prospects. Our church was located in a college town, and each Sunday many students visited. As minister of education, my office was adjoining the secretary’s office. On this particular Monday the laughter started with one and then swelled to include the other secretaries. My secretary came to my office door and could not speak because she was laughing so, but just pushed a visitor’s card toward me. The writer of the card had completed his name, college address, and dorm number. Then on the line which asked for “age/grade,” he had boldly written a 2.9. We knew it could not be his age, so it had to be a well-pleasing grade point average.
