DELIVER US!

“The Lord is my Shepherd ...” (Psalm 23:1).  

From whence does our deliverance from the sting of death come? The answer provided by Scripture is ever-old and ever-new. It is the Lord, who is our Shepherd, and we are to want for nothing and never give in to persistent fear.

The Psalmist beautifully captures the Lord as our Shepherd in the face of death. Moreover, there is the conflict declaration that we are to live in hope of being with the Lord in His Kingdom of peace and ever-lasting fellowship.

Psalm Twenty-Three begins with a declaration of unbounded trust in the Lord, who is our Shepherd. In spite of — in the midst of — our daily trials and crosses, it is the Lord who leads us to His house to live forever in peace and joy.

Please note, there is no promise that we shall be free from doubts and fears — from fear of death. Indeed, the Psalmist says that he must walk through the dark valley of death. He must…
