UNFRIENDLY PHONES
In a recent newsletter from the GOODNEWS computer B.B.S., there was an interesting telephone conversation that was recorded. It seems some people are a little put off when they make a phone call and are greeted with someone spouting off the number they just called. A caller placed her call, the secretary at the other end picked up the phone and answered, “555-4664” “May I speak to Mr. Barrier, please?” “Certainly, may I tell him who’s calling?” asked the secretary. Impatiently the caller said, “555-0779!” This is an eloquent protest against the forces that would dehumanize us. That’s why we need the Church.
