THE GRANDSTAND PLAYER
President John F. Kennedy told this story to the media when they were second-guessing his administration’s policies: “There once was a legendary ballplayer who never failed to hit, who never made an error, who never dropped a fly. Ground balls never dribbled between his legs. He had an arm like a bullwhip which threw with unerring accuracy. He never missed a sign, and he never had a mental lapse on the basepaths. In fact, he’d be in the Hall of Fame today except for one thing – No one was ever able to get him to put his drink and hot dog down and come out of the press box to play!” From The Daily Oklahoman, by Argus Hamilton
