IT’S MY CAR
Several years ago, around the holiday season, the Fort Worth Star Telegram carried the somewhat amusing account of a thwarted car theft. Shortly before 1 p.m., Melvin George, 29, went to check his post office box on Berry Street in Fort Worth, Texas. He only planned to be in the post office for a few seconds, so he left his keys in his car. When he came out of the post office, a man was sitting in the car with the doors locked and the window rolled up. Melvin ran over to the car and told him to get out, but the man had already cranked up the car. Melvin jumped on the hood and started yelling at him, “OK, but you are going to take me with you.” So they went for a little ride around the neighborhood.
