Anyone can give it,
But you can’t wrap it
In expensive paper and pretty bows.
You can’t buy it,
Yet it is so rare and unique
That only you can give it.
It is very precious,
Yet it is as accessible to the poor
As to the rich.
A poor baby in a crude manger
Came to teach us about it,
And we come together today
To celebrate His birth
And the love that He gave.
There ought to be
A warning label attached to love,
Because you cannot give it away
And keep it from coming back to you.
Real love can’t be taken back
And exchanged for something else
You can’t give it only to those
