EXPRESSIONS OF LOVE
Karen Mains wrote this letter from Singapore while working for World Vision, a ministry dedicated to relieving world hunger. Back in her room in Singapore one evening, she wrote something like this: I have spent the day in Singapore Harbor on board the rescue ship, the Acuna. Fifty-four Vietnamese boat people were fished from the sea somewhere around the time we celebrated Dad’s birthday together. They have left everything, risked everything. Talking with them made me realize how impossible it would be for me to permanently leave any of the members of my family or of yours. I cannot understand what compels these people.
