UNLAWFUL LOVE
What tragedy of life it is to find,
Oneself in such a state of mind,
As loving one outside the Code;
For any heart too great a load.
It preys upon man’s strongest need,
As lust within his heart does feed.
You grieve, but make it lord of life,
And yet get back no more than strife.
Mind is pierced both day and night;
Sirenic thoughts steal what is right.
Sand castles rise with every musing
Only to melt into self abusing./No place for peace – not even prayers;
There even thoughts creep unaware.
Battles rage from war within,
Then tears of self-pity soon begin.
How high the price for one’s desire;
How hard this sin is to retire;
It woos the heart beneath its spell;
It drags the soul to deepest hell.
How many other lives it has marred;
