GOD WOULD NOT DO THAT TO ME!
Barbara Karachalios wrote that her newborn daughter developed some minor medical problems and the worst case of colic on record. As a result, the infant slept very little and screamed almost constantly. One day, after many weeks of sleepless days and nights for everyone in the family, Barbara’s three-year-old son deposited himself comfortably on her lap and took her face in his hands. He asked her if Mommy and Daddy had ever considered asking God to send us a third child, but next time a brother-type baby. As simply as Barbara could, she explained to him that even if there was to be another baby, there was just as much chance that it could be a baby sister as brother. Without blinking an eye and in the sweetest, most reassuring tone that a three-year-old could possibly muster, he smiled and said, “Oh, Mommy, God wouldn’t do that to me.” From Living With Preschoolers Dec. 1991
