SWEET AND SOUR ORANGES
Before China was unified two thousand years ago, King Chi had a wise diplomat. This diplomat was sent to King Tsu to negotiate a treaty. When he was ushered into a banquet, King Tsu prearranged a prisoner to pass by the dining room. King Tsu asked, “Who is this prisoner, and what is the charge against him? The jailer answered, “He came from Chi, and he is a thief.” King Tsu turned around and asked the diplomat from Chi, “Would you please tell me why the people of Chi always steal from their neighbors?” The diplomat answered, “Farmers told me that oranges in your country are always big, juicy and sweet, but when we transplant the trees into our country, they produce sour and small oranges.
