GOOSE TALK
“Supposing geese could speak? Then they would arrange for their own church services. Every Sunday they would come together and a gander would preach the sermon. The essential content of his sermon would be: What a lofty destiny geese have! What a sublime goal the Creator had set before them (and whenever His name was uttered, the geese would curtsy and the ganders would bow their heads). With the aid of their wings, they would be able to fly off to distant lands, to blessed climates where they would really feel at home, for here they were only strangers. So it would happen every Sunday. And as soon as they came out of the church they would waddle off home to their own business. And then off to church next Sunday and then home again. And that was the end of it; they prospered and looked good, became plump and tender… and then at Christmas they were served up and eaten.…
