EXTINCTION
Careless hunting practices and the destruction of natural habitats have wiped some of God’s creatures off the face of the earth. A “Save the Whales” bumper sticker put it in grim perspective. Beside a picture of a whale were just three words: “Extinction is forever.” That’s a sobering thought — one that has caused people around the world to mobilize and do all they can to save the whales. If we were to kill them off, they would never exist again. For anyone interested in animals that’s a grave prospect. There’s a certain irony to this understandable concern for animals. While we spend millions of dollars and hours of time to ensure their continued existence, we often fail to do anything about the eternal destiny of people. In our concern for God’s creatures let’s not forget the human ones, the ones for whom Christ died.
