WRONG REVIVAL
Our visiting evangelist was preaching away during one of our revival services. During his sermon, he asked the congregation: “How many of you believe First Baptist Church needs revival? Would you say ‘Amen?'” There was not a single reply. Somewhat surprised by the lack of response, the evangelist asked the question a second time. Four or five people said, “Amen!” With such little response, the evangelist asked the same question a third time. Everyone responded, and, satisfied, the evangelist continued his sermon. After the service had ended, one of our members informed the evangelist, to his embarrassment, that he was not preaching in First Baptist Church, but in Mt. Airy Baptist Church! From Otis Darnell, Pastor of Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Easley, S.C. Located in Church Administration magazine, January 1992, p. 39
