PRIDE HIDES AND HURLS
Pride hides and hurls. We want our lives and the lives of others to be perfect. We try to make our own lives perfect, but upon examination we fail. So we hide our imperfections by ignoring them, excusing them or denying them. We are now ready to focus on the faults of others. We want others to be perfect also. So we hurl at their imperfections. I hurl insincerely by only affirming them, hoping they will be what I say they are. I hurl indirectly by trying to “sneak in” some suggestions, recommendations, questions and other such “coded messages.” I hurl angrily with choice words designed to destroy the ego of the other. I hurl intellectually by showing the other person how much more knowledge and wisdom I have concerning the subject than does the other. I hurl inconsistently, frontally, silently and on and on and on. When will I stop hiding and when will I stop hurling. NEVER –…
