CHEAP DICTIONARY
One hindrance to a healthy self-image is the fear of failure – the inability to admit that we are wrong. Such was the case with two men in a restaurant. They were enjoying their conversation, when one of the men used the word “perogative.” The other man mentioned that the word was pronounced with an “R” as in “prerogative.” The first man assured him that he needed no English lessons and that the word was indeed “perogative.” This was no longer friendly dinner conversation. Both men had become indignant! The waitress came to the table to find out the source of all the commotion. Both men tried to enlist the waitress as arbiter of his position. The waitress did not seem to know which was right, nor did she seem to care.
