Sermon Topic
There is something about the sights and the sounds and rituals of the season that make it possible for us to experience God’s Presence in a special way. This is the day of the year when we give our full attention to God’s Christmas Presence.
I think about how we become nostalgic at Christmas time, and the way in which we experience God’s Presence through the memories of our past. I think about material things — the trees, the lights, the gifts, and all the things that are a part of Christmas — and I realize that God’s Presence becomes real to us in and through those material things.
I think about the way in which we celebrate with family and friends, and even strangers, and how God becomes real to us in these relationships.
I think about the special music of Christmas and how, over-and-over again, through the gift of music, God becomes real to us in a special way.
