EXERCISE THE PRAYER MUSCLE
There is a story about a small town in the old country, far off the main roads. In the town were all the necessary municipal institutions: a bathhouse, a cemetery, a hospital, a lawcourt. And there were all sorts of craftsmen: tailors, shoemakers, carpenters and masons. One trade, however, was lacking; there was no watchmaker. In the course of the years, many of the clocks in that town became so annoyingly inaccurate that their owners decided to ignore them altogether. Why bother with a clock that said it was 12 o’clock when dawn was just breaking? Others, however, maintained that as long as the clocks ran, they should not be abandoned. They wound their clocks, even though they knew that they were not accurate. One day, when the news spread through the town that a watchmaker had arrived, everyone rushed to him with his clock.
