DOING THE RIGHT THING — THE WRONG WAY
The following is a story from inland China: A long, long time ago people had not yet discovered about cooking food. They had learned to use fire to keep warm and have light at night, but everything they ate was raw. One day a family decided to go on a short hike. They left one of the older children to watch the house. While the family was gone the child began to play with fire and accidentally caught the house on fire. The house burned to the ground. The family had seen the smoke and ran home. They were happy to see the child was all right. However, in the tragic fire the family’s pet pig had died in the flames. Later as they cleaned up the mess and prepared to rebuild, the father, in moving the now roasted carcass, licked his fingers and discovered — it was delicious!
