MEDITATING ON THE CROSS
There are many memorable scenes in the movie, Ben Hur. Who can forget the famous chariot race? It was exciting indeed, but the scene I can’t forget is the crucifixion of Jesus. Jesus is nailed to the cross, and the heavy cross is dropped into place. Slowly drops of Jesus’ blood begin to puddle beneath the cross. A storm approaches with lightning and thunder. Rain begins to fall and to mingle with His blood. More rain and more blood until the puddles begin to trickle down the hillside. The camera moves slowly, following the stream of water and blood until it becomes a surging torrent. You are then left to your imagination, and in your mind’s eye you can see His blood spreading from stream to stream, river to river, ocean to ocean until every shore is awash, symbolizing the fact His blood was spilled for the whole world. Just think, when Jesus died, His blood was shed to redeem…
