Barry Clanton, Pastor of the Westside Christian Church of Martinez, Georgia sent in a story I’ve always liked but had forgotten. In fact, I thought we had printed it before but in a quick search couldn’t find it. I know it is always chancy to use ethnic humor but perhaps you might adapt this to some innocuous format. r30907 Sam, though not educated, desired to enter the ministry and he went to a pastor to be examined. The pastor asked Sam about his ability to read and write and he wasn’t too well prepared in those areas. Then he asked him if he knew his Bible. He said, “Yes, sah, I’m pretty smart in the Scriptures. I knows my Bible from lid to lid.” The pastor asked him which part of the Bible he preferred, and he said in particular he liked the Parables — especially the Parable of the Good Samaritan.
