David Goodroe, Baptist pastor from Burlington, North Carolina sent in this item from a book called A Time to Laugh, or Grandpa Was A Preacher by Leroy Brownlow. Grandpa thought a text was something to stick with — not depart from. After another preacher had filled the pulpit he asked Grandpa, “What did you think of my sermon this morning?” He replied, “My dear brother, if your text had had the smallpox, your sermon never could have caught it. 27215
