Today is a great day for the People of God, and a very bad day for the Forces of Evil. Some of you may have read C. S. Lewis’ book, “Screwtape Letters.” It is the story of a senior devil who writes to his nephew, a junior devil who has been sent to earth to harass Christians. One of Screwtape’s pieces of advice is, “Never let those Christians see the banners flying.” By this he meant the Resurrection banners. In some of the old Resurrection paintings, Christ is seen holding a banner as a sign of the victory. Today is the day for flying banners. It is the celebration day for the Christian Community. God has raised Jesus Christ from the dead.
