SHARING THE PENALTY OF SIN
In Edward Kulhmann’s Cross Examined, there is an old story from a New England parsonage that tells how the wayward son of a pastor loved to play truant from school. One day the teacher met the father and inquired about his son Phil. The father was astonished and said, “Why, was he not at school today?” The teacher replied, “No, and he was not there yesterday or the day before.” Sadly the father wended his way homeward. Arriving at his study he conferred with his wife and told her to send Phil to him as soon as he returned. When the boy arrived he knew immediately that there was an atmosphere of strain in the house.
