Undoubtedly, the three fishing partners in today’s Gospel story expressed this same sentiment to one another at the end of their day’s work. They had been out in their boats fishing all night long and had caught nothing. Returning to shore, they began to clean their fishing nets. Nearby, a crowd of people had gathered around Jesus “to hear the Word of God.” Jesus left the crowd and got into one of the boats. He asked the owner of the boat to put Him out a little from the land. Then He sat down in the boat and preached to the people on the shore.…
