The Stall Warning Indicator is there to help the pilot avoid big trouble. In a light plane, if you get below a certain speed, you’ll fall right out of the sky. On my particular plane the stall speed is 55 miles per hour. If you get below 55, say your prayers. If your airspeed drops to around 60 miles an hour, you begin to hear a buzzer — the Stall Warning Indicator is doing its thing. When that buzzer begins to squawk and the corresponding red light begins to flash, you know you’re close to losing control … thank God for that Stall Warning Indicator. It’s a built-in device to help you avoid tragedy.1
