Here’s another story from the Clarence Jordan biography that you can relate to the story of the Rich Young Ruler. It seems that a lady arrived at Koinonia Farm, the communal farm started by Jordan in Georgia, in an old jalopy. She was about 40, a spinster and was rather quiet. She stayed with them for a while and looked the communal operation over. After a few days she approached Clarence and asked about joining the commune. He told her their requirement to divest themselves of all their earthly possessions, and come into the commune “flat broke.” Looking at her car, that didn’t appear to be a problem.
