JOIN THE CROWD
John Kenneth Galbraith is one of the better known economists of our day due to his frequent appearance on television. He is well-known for his teaching at Harvard, his several influential books and his service in government, particularly under John Kennedy. It seems that one day the New York Times ran a profile on Galbraith and it appeared on a morning when he was having breakfast with President Kennedy who asked Galbraith what he thought of the article. Galbraith said it was all right but he couldn’t understand why they had to call him arrogant. The president replied, “I don’t see why not. Everybody else does.” Adapted from The Little Brown Book of Anecdotes, Clifton Fadiman, Editor, page 228
