THE CHRISTMAS LIGHT
Radiant, the holy, singing light
Streams forth to bless on Christmas night
With some new pulse of energy.
Or is it only that we see
With clearer vision at this time
When we have always seen the sign
Of Christ, the baby, born again
Within the seeking hearts of men?
This is the light that blazed the sky
When shepherds scanned the heavens high
Above the flock-filled greening hills
And heard the angels sing their thrills
Of glorious glad tidings sent
Unto all men, that God had spent
The price of His own dear-loved Son
Forevermore to teach the one
Commandment, teach the law of love.
Oh, let us look, not high above
In starry skies, this Christmas night,
But in our hearts, for the Christmas light.
