It seems this knight was riding through the forest when he spotted a little sparrow lying alongside of the road — and in a very peculiar manner. So he dismounted from his horse and bent over the sparrow and saw that the sparrow was flat on his back with his feet pointed towards the sky. The Knight said to the sparrow: “What are you doing down there lying on your back with your feet up towards the sky? That seems like a very strange posture for a sparrow.” The sparrow replied, “I have just heard a very convincing report that the sky is going to fall.” The knight thought about this and then replied: “So, the sky is going to fall, and I suppose you think you are going to help hold it up with your feet?” And the sparrow simply responded, “One does what one can do!” It seems that this might be a modern parable of the apparent foolishness…
