PERSPECTIVE
There was a distraught woman staying at a Boston hotel who one day telephoned the manager: “I am dizzy, faint, and at my wit’s end. Someone in the next room has been banging on the piano the whole day. If you don’t have it stopped at once, I may collapse and you will be responsible.” The manager replied, “I wish I could help you, madam, but I don’t dare. The pianist is rehearsing for his concert tonight in Symphony Hall — it’s Paderewski.” The woman was taken aback and quavered, “Really? Oh, well that’s different.” After she hung up the phone she immediately proceeded to invite her friends to visit her room and listen with her.
