The story is told of the Reverend Brown who stopped during his walk to cast a sympathetic eye on a man bending over a wheel of his car. The car had been jacked up, the lugs had been removed, but the wheel with the flat tire wouldn’t budge, even though the man had tugged at it until his arms grew weary. Finally, in total frustration, he stood up, gave the wheel a swift kick and expressed his feelings loudly, and profanely. Whereupon, the Reverend Brown said to him, “My good man, why not compose yourself and resort to the power of prayer?” To which the man replied, “Are you kidding? Pray over this miserable thing?
