With the coming of each New Year comes the realization that there are some things in life that we have in common: We’re all getting older. And all through the year, there is no shortage of reminders of that reality. For example,
* At twenty-five years of age, we didn’t care what the world thought of us; at thirty, we started to worry about what the world thought of us. At forty, we realized that the world wasn’t thinking about us at all.
* We know we are getting older when we try to straighten out our socks only to find that we can’t reach them.
* At fifty we stop patting ourselves on the back and start patting ourselves under the chin.
* We know we are getting older when we need to put in our teeth and our hearing aid before we can ask where we left our eyeglasses.
