In a certain school district, it was customary to participate in the annual sale of Easter Seals. The practice was to put a “piggy bank” in each classroom and, from day-to-day, students would drop their little contributions into the coin slot. Seeing her class’s “piggy bank” for the first time, a first-grader asked her teacher, “What’s that for?” “It’s for Easter Seals,” the teacher replied. The child became wide-eyed with excitement as she said, “You mean we’ll have Easter Seals now instead of Easter Bunnies?”
Whether we adorn today’s celebration with eggs, or bunnies, or even seals, Easter brings us the Good News of Christ’s glorious Resurrection.
This is Resurrection time — a time in which to ponder the wondrous, awesome Resurrection power of the God who, moment-by-moment, day-by-day, gives us life.
