In front of a rural Church, there was a big sign on which the pastor regularly posted the sermon titles for the next two Sundays. During one week the sign read as follows:
March 1 — “Jesus Walks On Water”
March 8 — “Searching For Jesus”
That’s why we’re here, isn’t it? We’re searching for Jesus. We’re searching for Jesus the miracle worker, who can walk on water, heal the sick, change water into wine, raise the dead. We’re searching for the Jesus who can work miracles in our lives, transforming despair into hope and the daily little deaths we endure into new life.
The story in today’s Gospel Lesson begins as Jesus walks up and down in the Temple area.
