Some time ago, at a sectarian University, the story went around about a student who had enrolled in a Course entitled “Theology 101,” known all over the campus as a “snap” Course. It seems that the professor always asked the same Final Examination question: “Discuss the trials and tribulations of the Apostle Paul.” Obviously, since the students from year-to-year knew what was coming, they had no problem passing the Exam. Then, one semester, the professor changed the question, and only one student passed the Exam. The question the professor sprang on them was, “Criticize Jesus’ ‘Parable of the Last Judgment’.” When the student was asked how he managed to pass when everyone else failed, he said he wrote this answer: “Far be it from me to criticize Jesus. However, there are a few things I would like to say about the trials and tribulations of the Apostle Paul.” He then expounded on the theme, and he passed the Exam.
