It was three a.m. and Claudia and Tom’s two-week-old child lay in his crib crying. Claudia had just fed him but now he needed to have his diaper changed. Claudia nudged Tom, saying, “Come on, get up and change the baby’s diaper. Remember, when I last changed him, I asked you if you would take care of the next one. And you said, ‘Of course.'” To which Tom replied, sleepily, “I meant the next baby.”
In today’s Gospel Lesson, a leper comes to Jesus and says, “If You want to, You can cure me.” Jesus replies, “Of course I want to … be cured.” And, “The leprosy left him at once and he was cured,” Mark tells us (Mk. 1:40-42).
There is an ancient maxim which begins, “Take time to work, it is the price of success,” and continues with this litany …
Take time to think,
It is the source of power.
Take time to play,
It is the secret of perpetual…
