“How’s your wife,” he asked. “Oh, haven’t you heard?” the friend replied, “She’s in Heaven.” “I’m so sorry,” the poor fellow stammered. Then he realized this was not quite the thing to say, so he added, “I mean, I’m glad!” That didn’t seem quite right either, so he quickly said, “I mean to say I’m surprised.”
In today’s Gospel Lesson, the disciples are more than surprised by the sudden appearance of the Risen Christ in their midst.
