In today’s Gospel Lesson, Jesus says to His disciples, “All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations … teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And know that I am with you always, to the end of time” (Mt. 28:18-20).

The Gospel writers remind us, over and over again, that in terms of where we are going with our lives and what we are to do about it, Jesus speaks to us with authority, and He empowers us also.

With supreme authority Jesus commands His loyal followers to “Make disciples of all the nations.” Don’t just think about it. Don’t just talk about it. “Go!” He commands.

There is the story of a man who asked the question, “What is the devil?” Before anyone could reply, the man supplied his own answer …
